Chiaro Networks: Surviving and Thriving in the Current High-Tech Marketplace
Program
On October 31, 2003, the M.I.T. Enterprise Forum of Dallas-Fort Worth, Inc.
will present Chiaro Networks: Surviving and Thriving in the Current High-Tech
Marketplace, at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) new School of Management
Building. The program begins with breakfast and networking at 7:00 a.m., and the
program at 7:30 a.m. The cost to attend is a donation of $35 or $10 for
students. Reservations can be made at mitforum@juno.com, or 972-377-4554. More
information is at www.mitforum.com.
The presenter will be Ken Lewis, president & chief executive officer of
Chiaro Networks. The moderator will be David Springate, Ph.D., associate dean of
the UTD School of Management. The panelists will include experts in various
aspects of Chiaro's present and future success.
Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, Chiaro's technology represents a
convergence of photonics, telecommunications, networking and super computing
expertise. Chiaro is inventing the future of routing with an approach that is
both novel and paradigm changing. Chiaro's IP Routing Platform, Enstara™
simplifies current network architectures through consolidation, which reduces
service providers' costs by up to 60% over existing methods. Enstara™ is based
on several innovative technologies including Optical Phased Array (OPA), which
is a completely new way of using a light path to switch IP traffic, and STateful
Assured Routing with provides significantly increased reliability to IP
routers.
The Company has finished its research and development stage and recently
announced its second customer. The challenge to be discussed at the MIT Forum is
that Chiaro is competing with two industry giants with an increasing number of
start-ups that hope to capture this new edge of the networking market niche.
Although they are surviving and thriving in spite of the competition,
exploration of competitive issues are necessary for continued success.
