Corporate Profile
Efficient Networks, Inc., headquartered in Dallas, Texas designs, develops,
manufactures, markets and supports a line of hardware and software that bring asynchronous
transfer mode (ATM) technology to the end station. Since the introduction of its first
product in July 1994-an ATM SBus adaptor-Efficient Networks has provided ATM products for
end-to-end deployment in the local area network.
The company's founding was inspired by the desire to empower desktops with ATM. By
initially concentrating on the adapter &emdash; the component that takes information
from memory and transmits it through network cable or fiber to specific
locations-Efficient Networks could reduce the limitations and throughput bottlenecks that
are inherent in system architectures. With its current focus on first perfecting the
technology, Efficient Networks is helping foster the development of future ATM
applications.
Engineers with extensive expertise in ATM hardware and software joined Efficient
Networks in developing the right technology. Engineering backgrounds include
telecommunication, networking and workstation experience with companies such as AT&T,
Bell Labs, Tandem, Silicon Graphics, Novell and Texas Instruments. After receiving its
initial capitol funding in 1993, Efficient Networks established its corporate headquarters
in Dallas. In February 1995, an international office was established in The Netherlands to
support customers in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In addition Efficient
Networks has over 30 international distributors and resellers worldwide.
