A Complete Rewrite in Video Entertainment: New Media -- New Competition Dear Neil,

Announcing the panelists for the upcoming MIT Enterprise Forum.

A Complete Rewrite in Video Entertainment Video entertainment used to be straightforward – studios produced content, and theaters and TV networks distributed it for immediate consumption. Consumers’ options were limited. But consumers have been seeking more choices, and the industry has gotten more complicated – cable and satellite TV with hundreds of channels, pre-recorded videotape and DVD rentals, pay-per-view, and DVD sales. But that’s only been the warm-up act!

A number of emerging technologies have the potential to rewrite the rules of the video entertainment industry – video downloading over the Internet to laptops and video iPods, mobile TV to cellphones, and streaming IP-TV to your multimedia broadband-connected PC.

Come hear our panel of industry insiders debate the future of video entertainment. Is there really a 3G TV market? Will Nokia really end up competing with Tivo?

Yoram Solomon, Director-Strategic Marketing, Texas Instruments, will speak about delivering video over advanced cellular networks; Michael Jenkins, CEO, NextShow, will speak about delivering entertainment over the Internet; Trayc McKissic, Lead Instructor, Art Institute of Dallas, will speak about creating content for new media formats.

Our panel will be moderated by Steve Thrasher, a local attorney specializing in intellectual property issues.
