Panel  Overview

It’s not enough to have a "better mousetrap" to attract investors. They look for specific qualities in young ventures when they review entrepreneurs’ business plans.

On March 30th from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, entrepreneurs can learn how to package their ventures to attract investors. The MIT Enterprise Forum of Dallas-Fort Worth will present "What Equity Investors are Looking for When Investing in Entrepreneurial Businesses" at the Conference Center at The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas. The fee is $25 payable at the door, and $10 for students.

The moderator will be Ted Samuel of Texas Venture Post. Texas experts who will appear in person are Jack Baum of Sagebrook Technology; David Gerhardt of the Texas Capital Network, Inc.; and Robert Sureck of the Silicon Valley Bank in Dallas. Three panelists will be presented on videotape from a recent satellite broadcast from MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The taped panelists will be Richard Burnes, Jr. of Charles River Ventures; Dennis R. Costello of Advent International; and Guy Kawasaki of garage.com.

The MIT Forum’s most senior leaders have been concerned about private equity investment in entrepreneurial businesses for a long time.

According to Edmund M. Dunn, the Executive Director for the MIT Enterprise Forum at MIT, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, "Most new technology-based ventures face an early challenge in generating interest in their business plans." That’s why the MIT Forum has sought out top experts on this issue.
